Furla is a company that was created by the Furlanetto family over 80 years ago in 1927. It is currently a limited company, still owned by Furlanetto family. Furla feature Italian-designed products that ranges from handbags, shoes to accessories. Its headquarters is located in Bologna, in a historic 18th century villa, and has 5 subsidiaries in USA, France, Japan, Hong Kong and Korea.Since the early 1980s, Furla has begun exporting the Italian accessory market to launch a franchising network. Furla currently exports to 71 countries. Its products are present in over 1000 retail sales outlets and 320 single brand boutiques, 156 of which are owned by the company and 164 are franchised.In 2008, the president of Furla, Giovanna Furlanetto, created the Furla Foundation. The foundation is committed to support young talent in all areas of creativity, from art to fashion design, who cannot find ways, places and possibilities to emerge and showcase their work.The company has gone into Joint Venture with Fung Holdings (1937) Ltd to penetrate China, Hong Kong and Macau market.Recently the company has also gone into Joint Venture with Genesis Luxury Fashion Pvt. Ltd and has filed a foreign direct investment (FDI) proposal to enter in India market.
